Lakeville, West Fargo, Warroad and Southdale.
Roseau 8 - Warroad 2

period brought two goals each from Jenna
Byfuglien and Kenzie Rugland. With a goal from Warroad, 4-1 after the
first in favor of the Rams. The second period started with
a goal from Kenzie
Rugland giving her a hat trick for
the game. On a pass from Whitney Raftevold, Gina Wensloff
put one away for the rams. Shortly after, Gina Wensloff
received a pass from Kenzie Rugland giving her two goals, making it 7-1 after the
2nd period. Starting out the third for the Rams
Kate Wensloff had a nice breakaway and buried one in the
Warriors net. Warroad answered back with a goal. Stella
Vatnsdal played well in net for the Rams.
Final score 8-2 Rams.
Roseau 1 - TRF 6
Saturday morning started with Roseau White against TRF Gold.
The first period was all TRF with one of their players
getting three goals. Sophia
Donarski
got her first penalty of the season for elbowing. TRF came
out in the 2nd period with another goal, but
Kenzie Rugland got a nice pass from Gina Wensloff and put
Roseau on the board. TRF got one more ending the 2nd
period 5-1 in favor of TRF. Kate Wensloff and Jenna Byfuglien both found their way to the penalty box in
the third period. TRF got one more goal ending the game 6-1
for TRF. The White team played well against a strong TRF
team.
Roseau 0 - West Fargo 5
The next game for Roseau White was later that evening
against West Fargo. The 1st Period started out
with a lot of back and forth action. This game brought 5
goals from West Fargo. The rams worked hard but could not
manage to get one in the net. Final 5-0 West Fargo.
Roseau
White 0 - Roseau Green 4
With all the pool play done, the pairings were set for
Sundays Finals. The Roseau White was paired with Roseau
Green from the other bracket for Sunday Morning’s playoff
game. It was a good first period for both teams 0-0 after
15 mins of play. The Green team came out strong for the
rest of the game ending it 4-0 in favor of the Green Team.
Good Job Green. To add some fun to the game, between the 1st
and 2nd periods we had a “my coach is better
than your coach” shoot out. Tom
Murphy vs Tom Jerome. Both coaches gave it a go
to see who could get the puck closest to the center dot on
the ice starting from the Goal line. Tom
Murphy was about 2 feet closer so the Green
Team took the win. Between the 2nd and 3rd
periods the coaches decided it should be a “my coaches WIFE
is better that your coaches WIFE” competition. That paired Ann Leverington from the Green team
against Bonnie Wensloff
from the White team. They both did great, but in the end
the Green team ended up taking the prize. Thanks for your
participation coaches and wives.

10U White vs. EGF 1/17/10
The 10U White team traveled to
East Grand Forks for a game this past Sunday. The Noon
start time collided head on with a certain football game
which made it tough for the parents to get focused but
the girls didn't seem to miss a beat and came out
flying in this one matching EGF's speed and intensity.
EGF scored first but the girls tied it back up with a
goal by Kenzie Rugland assisted by Gina Wensloff and
Jenna Byfuglien. The game would stay tied through the
second period with great back and forth fast paced
action. Stella Vatnsdal came up big when she needed to
as did the the EGF goalie and this one would come down
till the last minute of the game when Sophia Donarski
got free on a breakaway only to be hauled down by the
EGF defense. The girls went on the power play and
finally capitalized on one of their chances with Kenzie
Rugland getting the game winner with just 15 seconds
left assisted by Jenna Byfuglien. EGF then pulled their
goalie but this one belonged to Roseau in a very hard
fought, well deserved 2-1 win.

10U White vs. TRF 1/8/10
The girls traveled to Thief River
Falls to the cold "Old Rink" for a game Friday evening. TRF
got on the board first for a 1-0 lead but Roseau answered
with a goal by Kenzie Rugland to tie it early in the second
period. TRF then scored two before Gina Wensloff scored to
get Roseau back within one trailing 3-2. TRF scored to get
ahead by 2 but once again Roseau answered this time by Jenna
Byfuglien to make it 4-3. With just over four minutes to go
in the game TRF went on a run to score 4 unanswered to open
up the game and it ended 8-3. This was the third time the
White team had matched up against TRF and gave them all they
could handle until the very end.
10U White vs. Warroad 1/9/10
Next up for the girls was a trip to
Warroad to another cold rink (Olympic) for a matchup with
the Warriors. The girls got off to a good start with Madison
Jerome scoring from Jenna Byfuglien and then Gina Wensloff

Fargo All City Girls
International Hockey Classic Summary
-
Jan 1 - 3, 2010
|
After what seemed like a short
Christmas break, the 10U white team traveled to Fargo for a
Tournament this past weekend.
First up was a Friday night game with
Orono. There was no scoring in the first with just two shots
apiece fired at the goalies. Orono got on the board in the
second with 2 goals just 40 seconds apart to take a 2-0 lead
going into the third. Halfway through the third Jenna
Byfuglien drew a hooking call and put the girls on the power
play. It didn't take long on the power play with Mckenzie
Nix scoring assisted by Kenzie Rugland to get within a goal.
This set up a great finish with a late time out and Coaches
Tracey Wensloff and Tom Jerome pulling goalie Stella
Vatnsdal for the a extra attacker but in the end Orono held
on for a 2-1 win. A lucky break or the right bounce here or
there and this one could of went Roseau's way but Orono had
a big strong goalie who didn't give up any rebounds, and she
ended up being the difference in the game.
Next up was an early, early game as in
7:30am matchup with West Fargo. This one got off to an
understandably slow start with lot's of whistles as both
teams were trying to get a feel for the game. On a side note
a gutsy performance goes out to Jenna Byfuglien's younger
sister, Savanah who at approximately 7:15am decided it was a
good time to try a concession stand hot dog? Meanwhile
on the ice West Fargo was building up a 4-0 lead with one
skater doing the bulk of the scoring. Late in the period
Kenzie Rugland scored on a pass from Jenna to make it 4-1.
The girls went on the power play to start the second but
couldn't get any quality chances and West Fargo added to
their lead later with a couple more goals to make it 6-1
after two. West Fargo added to more in the third to make it
8-1. Stella Vatnsdal seen 28 shots fired her way in this
one and played well as did the rest of the girls despite the
loss.
This set up a game with Roseau's other
10U team Saturday evening. Roseau Green got the only goal in
the first but Gina Wensloff scored unassisted in the second
and Kenzie Rugland scored to make it 2-1. Kate Wensloff got
the assist on Kenzie's goal. The Green team answered back
though with two goals of their own to make it 3-2. With a
minute and a half to go in the game the White team pulled
Stella for an extra skater but couldn't get that third goal
to tie it and in the end the Green scored an empty netter to
make it a 4-2 final.
The girls had another early start
Sunday morning with a matchup with Waverly Heights out of
Winnipeg. Waverly Heights got on the board first but Kenzie
Rugland scored unassisted to tie it and the girls took the
lead when Mckenzie Nix scored from Gina Wensloff to make it
2-1. Shots in the first favored Roseau 8-2. Waverly Heights
tied it halfway through the second but Kenzie Rugland got
the girls back on top with a late second period goal to make
it 3-2. The girls opened it up a bit in the third with
Sophia Donarski scoring from Gina and then Gina getting one
of her own with the assist going to Jenna Byfuglien to make
it 5-2 which is how it would end. Stella Vatnsdal made 10
saves in the game to get the win.

Thief
River Falls 10U Tournament Dec. 19-20, 2009
The 10U White team participated in the
Thief River Falls Tournament this past weekend.
They started the trny with a Saturday
morning matchup with Elk River. The girls got off to a good
start with Gina Wensloff scoring unassisted but Elk River
answered right back and made it 1-1 after one. Elk River
then came out and scored 3 goals in the second session
outshooting our girls 13-2. They added one more in the third
to make the final 5-1.
Their second game opponent was a team
out of Fargo called the Lightning. Lightning struck first
in this one and held a 1-0 lead after one. The girls were
having a hard time mustering up scoring chances with just 3
shots compared to Fargo's 7. In the second period they found
themselves killing off a couple of penalties and both teams
struggled to get a lot of quality scoring chances. They
finally got on the board in the third period with a goal by
Sophia Donarski on the power play to tie the game at one
apiece. That's how this one would end thanks to some key
saves by Stella Vatnsdal who had to make almost three
times as many stops (16-6) as her counterpart.
Game three Sunday morning matched them
against the host team TRF. TRF got on the board first
and held that lead after one. They also took a two girl
advantage into the break as our girls found themselves
getting called for two tripping penalties on the same
play with just a second left on the clock. The girls came
out in the second and successfully fought off that 5 on 3
and seemed to build a little momentum doing it. TRF then
answered with a goal making it 2-0 after two. Up to this
point the game had been pretty well played by both teams and
the tempo was a vast improvement over the first two games
the girls had played. Things changed a bit in the third
however as TRF came out flying and scored 4 unanswered goals
to put this one out of reach. Roseau did get on the
scoreboard with a nice pass out front by Kenzie Rugland to
Gina Wensloff for a goal but TRF scored one more late to
make the final 7-1. Shots favored the home team 25-12.
The girls captured Third Place in the
Tournament thanks to the tie with Fargo and the goal
differentials.
The 10U White's next game is December
27 at the Ram Sport Center against Grand Forks at 3:30pm.
Come on out and work off that holiday meal by cheering on
the girls!

Roseau White 3, Warroad 0
|
After coming off a defeat on the road
to a tough TRF team, The 10U White girls had a rare Tuesday
night game matching up at home with rival Warroad here at
the Rams Sports Center. Gina Wensloff opened the scoring
just under 2 minutes into this one, with the assist going to
Jenna Byfuglien. Gina made it 2-0 at the 7:51 mark,
capitalizing on a nice feed out of the corner by Madison
Lee. Roseau continued to apply pressure throughout the
opening session, Mackenzie Nix had a great rush late in the
period coming in and letting a nice wrist shot fly. After
deflecting off the pipe, the puck was headed in only to be
denied by the Goaltenders knob on the end of her stick.
Stella Vatnsdal came up big with a minute to go, stopping a
Warroad breakaway to keep them off the scoreboard. Shots in
the period favored Roseau
10-2.
The second period turned into a
scoreless battle as Warroad picked up the pace a little and
played the girls much more evenly. Both teams had some
chances but after two periods the scoreboard read the same.
They continued their close play into the third as this game
got the feel that a lucky bounce either way could make the
difference in the end. Stella Vatnsdal made sure that bounce
didn't go Warroad's way with a great save on a Warroad rush
with just under seven minutes to go. Kenzie Rugland scored
a big insurance goal two minutes later to make it 3-0, which
is how it would end. Shots were 27-11 in favor of Roseau,
but it felt a bit closer than that after the opening period.
Roseau White 9,
Bemidji 6
The girls made the trip to Bemidji Saturday and came out on
top 9-6 to improve their record to five wins and two
losses. We'll try to get a summary on this one. Next up for
the girls is a weekend Trny in Thief River Falls,

Sunday was more of the same as the girls found themselves in the opening
game of the day. One thing was for sure in this one, Roseau would come out
on top regardless as the game matched up the Roseau White's against the
Roseau Green's. After a scoreless back and forth battle between the two, the
Green team went out ahead with 3 unanswered goals until Madison Lee poked
one in to make it 3-1. The two teams traded goals with some great back and
forth action with Whitnie Raftevold scoring for White's to make it 4-2. The
game tightened back up as Gina Wensloff made it 4-3 with a goal halfway
